I want to spotlight and go into a little more detail on a little known essential oil. Davana (Artemisia Pallens) is one that I look to frequently this time of year in our Shield of Armor Aromamist. Because the health benefits of Davana Essential Oil can be attributed to its properties like anti depression, anti septic, anti viral, disinfectant, expectorant, and relaxant, it is especially helpful this time of the year. The Shield of Armor Aromamist is one of the first things I break out of the medicine cabinet whenever I or any member of my family first starts to show signs that they are getting sick. I simply spray it in the air and walk through the mist breathing in the aroma deeply. I will also spray it directly on the chest or back. At first, the fragrance is unpleasing to many. It is definitely an acquired preference. My 11 year and I both have come to find great comfort in the aromatherapy from the Davana and even find it quite pleasing now. One description of the aroma I have read compares it to wine. It does smell slightly alcoholic, so if you are a wine lover, you will most likely enjoy this essential oil. Please do not take any essential oil internally though without first consulting with a trained aromatherapist.

One of the most widely used essential oils for the relief of flu and cold symptoms is Eucalyptus Oil.

With cold and flu season in full swing, what can you do to stay healthy? One of the most widely used essential oils for the relief of flu and cold symptoms is Eucalyptus Oil. It has been shown to have both medicinal and antiseptic properties. Eucalyptus Essential Oil has even shown to have antibacterial effects on bacteria in the respiratory tract. According to several recent sources, inhaled Eucalyptus Oil vapor is also a decongestant. I personally have found such immense relief from Cold and Flu symptoms by using Eucalyptus Essential Oil that I wanted to share some tips with you. So, how do you best use Eucalyptus Essential Oil? Essential Oils are extremely concentrated and need to be used with care and in small amounts. Inhalation can be very effective. Simply add no more than 1 or 2 drops to your bath water and inhale the steam infused with the oil as you bathe. If you are pressed for time and want a true steam bath experience, close the door to your bathroom, drop several drops of Eucalyptus Oil in the corners of your shower and start the shower with hot water. Allow the room to become filled with the steam, adjust the water to a comfortable temperature and proceed with your shower. Several drops of oil can also be added to a misting humidifier to disperse the particles in the air for inhalation. This is great for sleeping.

Aside from the medicinal uses of Eucalyptus, it can be used for a number of household chores. Add it to water and a little dish soap to make an effective, antibacterial kitchen and bath cleaner. Use this solution to clean door handles, light switches and anything that might have become infected by a sick member of your household. Add to your laundry to give it a fresh scent as well as for its anti-microbial properties. You can even use it straight to remove sticker residues from glass! In my opinion, it is a must have for any medicine cabinet and to help in becoming more cleaning chemical independent. Order today to make sure you have it added to your household and wellness routine.
